alright alright!
i couldn't be more excited for this because it's time well spent with you guys and my family.
due to the move, i feel like it's been even longer than normal since i've last seen all of you - even though it's been since just january.
here is an AMAZING project tutorial for an umbrella swift i found whilst surfing the net...
CLICK ME FOR AWESOMENESS!!!
just finished revolutionary road, clearly another winslet gem.
i love her so much... i loved this movie. if you're into the whole period piece/people dealing with mundanity/psychological studies/social commentary on the classic housewife notion of the 1950's/60's... then i highly recommend it.

good lord
Listening to:
"Know How (feat. Feist)" - Kings of Convenience
I know it's been a long time and that is completely unwarranted. i'm really sorry, it's just a lot has happened this year!!!
in february of 2009, i moved in with two of my best friends here in oregon because another friend of ours had moved back to his parent's house in Olympia, Washington.
These are my roommates, Katie is the curly sue and Becca is the blonde... You will hear much more about them soon I'm sure.
and this is their cat Mr. Henry Higgins. It's mainly THEIR cat, because I'm not such a big cat person. although, he has grown on me since they left for their summer breaks. You see, we've staggered them so we could all take care of the animals for each other while everyone was gone. There's 2 hamsters, 2 rats, and a cat. it's a silly life here.
We call our place the compound because we have about an acre of land and are surrounded by trees and an organic garden. There will be more pictures later, i promise you that.
speaking of, I'll be coming home on June 10th! I'm pretty psyched on it.. I'm very VERY ready to be home.
i know this post was lacking, but expect more my lovelies!

jury duty is satan's asshole; and its people, the dingleberries
having never done jury duty, i thought the rumors were lies. i was incredibly mistaken, naive even.
so, i'm stuck here! which means i'm going to post some stuff about life, and stuff. mostly work i've done in the past that i haven't shown you guys yet.
also, i've been real obsessed with quilting. like... REALLY obsessed.
yay i luh yuh!
there was an overwhelming amount of snow this year, which was AMAZING.

Writing Patterns
i'll have you know that i am actually in the midst of writing the pattern for those entrelac gloves i made during the summer that seems so long ago now i can hardly believe it's only october.
i've currently got another pair on the sticks and am taking notes down feverishly whilst i knit them up.
i've already come up with a name that, when i first thought of it, caused me to be so excited i almost peed my pants! i will leave it at that.
it will also interest you to know that as i'm writing this entry i am very pleased with the notion of having a laptop. especially, because, i am currently sitting on the toilet.
much love.
p.s. i got an A- on my paper regarding the ancient andean natural dye techniques of the indigenous tribes of south america... check it out here!

Movies
i mean, i love a good cheesy effect as well as anyone - but when someone REALLY fucks up in a movie, it just really bugs me. the best part is up until now, generally, mistakes were made in movies all the time and nobody cared or paid enough attention to notice.
and what i like most about our society now is the fact that a lot of movies are actually combed over by many a geek/fact checker. i want this job!
the example that brought this subject to my attention is the fake hatchet movie "a cry in the wild". yes, it's a 90's movie... in fact, it was made in 1990. however, when a mistake like the main character saying his name wrong is made... it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
one of my all time favorites is:
TEEN WOLF
at the end scene where everyone rushes the gym, some guy is actually REVEALING HIMSELF at the upper part of the screen. either that or he's adjusting himself... you decide america... that's FULL dick & balls, or is it?
shocking? not enough for them to fix it apparently.
i know, i'm ranting about absolutely nothing in particular. but i thought i really needed to relax and vociferate on something stupid.
i leave you with two of my favorite recuts, they're old news - but maybe you haven't had the chance to check them out:

i never promised you an unprejudiced yarn garden
I'd just like to apologize to you all for my lack of updating! So much has happened it's ridiculous!
so, perhaps in the coming days - i will update you on the big stuff, then once osmosis is regained, we can continue with the updating on my actual life.
okay, so i WAS working at that yarn garden place for a while... until, about a month into it i got completely SICK of the fucking racism!
now, we're not talking cross burning white bed-sheet garbed klan members... but something almost in the same wake of.
comments like, "oh, you're laura anne? that's not a very oriental name"
or, "so... what kind of asian ARE you? japanese? chinese?"
or, "hey, you probably know where i can find some really good ______ (insert random oriental food type)"
or my personal favorite, "oh, you're laura anne? we talked on the phone earlier... you don't SOUND oriental" -- WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!?
at first, i will admit - i found it pretty hilarious that something so ridiculous could happen to me. But is it ridiculous? I started to realize that these old ladies came from such a different era... an era where they lived in FEAR of us slanty-eyed yellow folk. I understand the shell-shocked fathers, grandfathers, and uncles washing the brains and inciting prejudice and chauvinism into their young families. A society sopping with xenophobia and panic over us small-framed, superior minded idealists.
It takes a lot of guts for those old ladies to approach me and talk to me about a subject that clearly interests me in their minds, i'm sure. But after a good amount of time explaining my heritage (which, by the way, has nothing to do with their actual YARN purchase), explaining the reason why my eyes look like this, or why my skin is this jaundice resembling tone, why i am knowledgeable on all the local asian food fare... because clearly, i should, right? after all of the questions that i started to notice were exclusively being directed at me... i decided to take my leave. old ladies pestering me on my life and how beautiful my people are as a whole, really started to bother me... as complimenting as it might seem, and as ironic as it might seem. i was made to feel uncomfortable, NO THANKS LADIES!
and so now, after my rant, i am a free woman! i am free to be shackled to the studio as long as i please. i am free to rip my hair out at every fucked up seam allowance and every misplaced pin.
free at last, free at last, oh lord, free at last.
more to follow in the coming days. i will make a point to post weekly, if not daily.
SOPHIA COME BACK TO MEEEEEEE (through blog form)
also, who saw burn after reading? i know i did.... it was fukcing FANGTASTIC!

this is what it started out as...

much love.

Jobs
It is a bit far, but I figure I can just take the bus and knit the whole way there.
YARNGARDEN!
it's a wonderful place and the owner is such a wonderful lady.
wonderful wonderful wonderful.
i'm very excited about tomorrow, it's my first day! it's a training day, and i should be there from 10am-2pm.
she said i could do some sample knitting and it's free!
the best part about this job, is that in the interview i brought a couple pieces of my portfolio with me... including the entrelac gloves i've been working on for so long!
she said i'd be able to teach, no problem. especially with a pattern like that. If I teach a class, not only do i get moneys for doing that (about 50-85 bucks an hour, depending) but i'll be able to sell my pattern to people and make all the money off of those! the job also gives me insight on whether or not i would want to own my own yarn shop/cafe... although, Linda (the owner) says she's getting rid of the cafe room and turning it into a classroom. Although, we will still have coffee and tea - it'll just be free this time around for all the customers. She found it to be quite impressive that I knew how to make coffee, which was fortunate for me.
yesterday, in celebration of the new job, old friends and i drank and were merry. we got a breakfast lunch out at a cafe and Brandon created a fantastic elixir that I will share with you... it was absolutely mind blowing!
take a punch bowl and fill it with ice...
then!
a couple of tall boys of pabst blue ribbon
a couple cups of vodka
and a half to full can of frozen orange juice or lemonade concentrate...
or you could use pink lemonade and call it a Pink Panty Pulldown, like we were calling it... alliterations are extra fun when you're drunk
i sure miss you guys!
miss nancie is coming to see me!
i also hear train tickets are nice and cheap....

An Ode to Flavors of Memories...
Safely arrived in Portland after a long road trip with my mother to get here. Although the ride is tough, I feel like I go through some kind of weird PTSD thing where I automatically forget the ridiculous emotional and mental pain I went through to get to where I was going... it's a rough ROUGH road, 16 hours. yessir, let me tell you...
Anyway, I recently experienced a spoonful of the new flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream... It's called Cinnamon Buns, yes. I was so inspired by this particular flavor, I decided to take up my word with the big guys...
"Dear Ben & Jerry's,
I used to work at one of your very fine establishments. To be honest, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Sure, a summer job scooping ice cream in a beach city with all your high school friends and making a butt load of money doing so sounds fun in itself... but getting to sample your wide and VAST collection of delicious and meticulously concocted ice creams truly made the experience something I will cherish forever. I am currently enjoying a spoon of your new flavor Cinnamon Buns and have to say that, so far, it is my favorite flavor. This flavor in particular has inspired me to write this message to you, thanking you for this magic I am currently sharing with all of you at Ben & Jerry's.
Laura Lewis 21; Portland, OR
P.S. Willie Nelson's Peach Cobbler flavor is totally rank... despite however much I may love the man."
Yes, life is trés good... I miss you all.
As far as knitting is concerned, I've been very very busy writing my very first actual documented pattern that I think you will all love.
I've also got a new blog/website I'm thinking about setting up - along with a few other tricks up my sleeve.
That's all for now lovelies.

SOOOOO
http://gallery.andreas.id.au/knitting.html
I have no idea who did these, which is a real shame because they look like someone's thesis project. They are so beautiful and well constructed. I wish I knew the scale on them. Anyway,
So it's march the 1st and I haven't posted since December the 29th! what a bummer!
i've been busy with school and sometimes (most times) doing anything else is totally tedious.
so there is much to be said!
1. my 21st birthday is on the 15th
2. spring break is coming on the 24th
3. got a new AMAZING pipe
4. i gots babies!
i'm turning 21 on saturday, march the 15th. it's pretty awesome, but pretty bizarre and scary. i'll be a bona fide adult... i'll be able to rent a car and tell kids about back in my day when we had dial up internet and ace of base. yes, those were simpler times.
spring break is coming and it should be awesome. it will be the first spring break where i can essentially do whatever the fuck i want with some legal limitations... but not ALL legal limitations as far as age goes. with that, it shall be incredible. i didn't, however, think ahead and invited my little sister nikki (15 years with epilepsy) to hang out for the whole week. bad idea? we'll just have to see about that when it comes around.
this amazing pipe that i got... well... it's amazing. it's a vapor pipe! now, i don't know if you guys are familiar with vaporizers, but they are pretty fucking amazing. basically, instead of the flame touching the herbs (whether it be weed or lavender or mint or chamomile or anything!) it heats a volcanic rock just before touching the herbage so it bakes it instead. What does this do laura? you ask. well, instead of giving off dangerous toxic carcinogen filled smoke, it just gives off the vapors created by the herbs reaching a certain level of heat given off by the even distribution of volcanic rock filtration with a regular bic lighter.
translation: better for you, better high!
tastes just like REGULAR vaporizers, only completely portable AND not 300 dollars! and! there's more!
the top screws on so it's completely spill proof, AND it's powder coated so it's durable as hell. i've dropped it at so many parties it's ridiculous. with a glass piece, you'd have to go to the nasty head shop and buy another and haggle and bargain... fuck that! with the Vapor Buddy, you can count on having a good time, every time.
and there is my spiel, hopefully they will give me my own line of designer proto pipes. here's what mines looks likes:
VAPOR BUDDY!
lastly, world... ladies, especially... meet Dude & Walter:
The Dude
Walter
these are pictures of when they were little babies. they're a little bigger right now. currently, they are the pride and joy of my life. i love them immensely and it's incredibly embarrassing. i went to this party last night and they were pretty much all i talked about. some people are cat people, some people are dog people, i'm DEFINITELY a rat person. absolutely, no questions.
i sure miss you guys and i sure love you guys.

ode to a french man
what a man!
today was excellent, the ladies and i all met at the coffee bean, had lunch at royal bakery, and went to anacapa's for a while.
i had to leave all early because my boyfriend told me to come home and talk to him, to which i obliged.
i truly love my man. look at this morning face!
you can't beat that, not one bit. when we break up - i will have to find another french man, no question.
also, he asked me to marry him this afternoon. i said no, of course... but in 5 years, if he's still around? forget about it!
so now he calls me his fiancée, and i call him my french man.
i think that's a good enough excuse for my "get up and go" behaviour today.

Zig Zags and Half Tone Apples
Oh lord! It's been a long time coming!
I have so much to tell you!
I finally finished my Squirrely Swedish Mittens and I couldn't be more happy!
I used a Temple Turquoise and Blue Blood Red yarn by Wildfoote.
IT SNOWED IN PORTLAND! of course, I had just smoked a bowl of "TOBACCO" and this guy next to me was like,
"where are you from?"
"uhhhh... fucking like... somewhere that it doesn't FALL FROM THE SKY"
he LITERALLY just backed away from me slowly and didn't say anything. i felt weird and awkward for about TWO SECONDS and then marveled at how the sky was falling right on my eyelashes. it was the most beautiful thing i've ever seen.
As per Miss Becky's request, I am showing you pictures of my drawing class midterm. It's about 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall.
(DISCLAIMER:this is a joke, i didn't really make pot brownies nor do i smoke weed. it's bad for you and puts holes in your brains. please do not smoke or ingest weed unless you bought it from reputable sources through the state appointed government regulated medical marijuana program located in states like California or Oregon! thanks!)
Speaking of WEED! I went home for Thanksgiving and before I did i ate two FAT FUDGY HOME COOKED BROWNIES with about a dub of pot in it. genius! Here's my recipe:
What You'll Need:
- 6 squares unsweetened chocolate
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (12 tablespoons or a stick and a half)
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup unbleached all purpose flour
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/8 oz weed (optional!)
(for you dime baggers, that's 4 ounces... or 4 dimes!)
Take the butter and put it in a small saucier pan over low heat, you want the butter to froth a little, but make sure it's a deep enough pan so the butter doesn't get too hot AND doesn't brown too much (although browning the butter just a bit does provide an overall nutty taste in the brownies - but remember, browning it too much means BURNT!)
PREHEAT YOUR OVEN TO 325!!!
now you're going to have to crush the weed to make sure all the leaves and crystals and hairs have a chance to intermingle with the butter evenly. i have what's called a Chromium Crusher which is essentially a "tobacco grinder" sold at any head shop, or if you are a fellow venturian, Salzer's! If you don't have a "bud buster", you can ALWAYS use your food processor - but remember, what's left in the bowl is gonna be left OUT of your brownies.
now that the butter is melted down with a bit of froth, go ahead and add the weed.
(i know what you're thinking, sheesh! waste an 1/8th? but this is a great high, and it utilizes ALL of the weed, including the stems which you don't really want to smoke anyway because it's super harsh on the throat... not to mention, ingesting the weed doesn't give you red eyes or the delightfully hilarious but offensive odor. ANOTHER THING, ingesting weed is great for your lungs which can super suffer from long term smoking use, even with a bong or water pipe! so just TRY it for pete's sake! if you DON'T like them, they make excellent and hilarious all-encompassing holiday presents for your in-laws, especially if they don't know what's in them..)
let the weed and the butter steep for about half an hour to really let it all come together. the longer it stays on the heat, the more thc will be released... like i said though, be careful about burning it. then strain the butter into a glass bowl that fits into a saucier but doesn't touch the bottom of the pan. (these brownies will be much better than the ones you had in high school where some nobody just dumped a bag of weed into some box brownies - these are gonna be straight DANKENSTEIN)
alright!!! so, now you will take 6 squares of unsweetened chocolate in a glass (or stainless steel) bowl over an inch of water in a sauce pan. this is called double boiling! yay! new techniques!
mix the chocolate and the butter together until they are nice and melty and warmy and gooey. do not eat this! it's going to be super yummy, but we need it! (maybe you can dip a finger or two in it)
Now stir the sugar into the chocolate until it is well blended and take the chocolate OFF the heat.
mix your eggs together with a fork (not a whisk because you might add too much air to the mixture) and do a TEMPER on the eggs.
this is when you add a little bit of the warm chocolate to the eggs that you've whisked so that it doesn't cook the eggs too quickly. you want to just bring them up to temperature by gradually adding about a 1/4 of a cup of chocolate at a time (nobody wants chocolate scrambled eggs... maybe). once you have about a full cup of chocolate mixed into the eggs, NOW you can add the egg/chocolate mixture to the original double boiling bowl.
add the vanilla and take the bowl onto the counter.
stir in your flour and your nuts (making sure not to OVERMIX) and place the batter in a greased 9x13 glass baking dish. bake for 30 minutes!
et voila!
i know it SEEMS like a lot of work, but it's really not -- essentially, the recipe seemed so long because of all the added crap about how to do things you probably already knew!
these brownies should be unfuzzy for a couple weeks in a ziplock bag in the fridge, although in my house they never keep that long...
Fudgey, Crispy, Crunchy, Dense, and Chocolatey! Just the way mama made them.
anyway, i love you guys and really consider making a dish that's fun for the whole family... pot brownies! an age old and often neglected tradition.

my lordy loo!
i've been going to class and enjoying my classes.
i left the flue open and now soot has blown all over the living room and all over my laptop. it has also blown all over some of my work for drawing and design, but it wipes off easily.
i miss you guys so much! my life is so cluttered and all over the place!
i can't wait to come home for christmas and thanksgiving.
anyway, this isn't such a detailed entry - more so a hurried one. i love you all and hope to see you soon!

Capital Knockers, madame.
i don't know how he did it, but i am truly enamored...
look at this letter he sent to me in the mail:
"mon amour, je t'aime. je t'envoie ses 2 petites photos pour être un peu plus avec toi et pour que ta penses à moi à chaque dois que tu regardes ses photos. je sais que c'est trés dur pour toi de vivre seule et de penser à moi tout le temps sans pouvoir me toucher mais je pense que toute cette attente et cette patience doivent être vécus pour que notre futur soit plus beau. je t'aime et je t'aimerais toute ma vie.
p.s. nos nuits passées ensemble me manque terriblement..."
(a small letter he wrote on a the back of a picture, it's on my fridge now!)
You will just have to find out for yourself... unless you're Nancie, in which case you probably understand fully.
yes, even though he's gone - i'm incredibly happy... although i would be happier with him around.
mon dieu, i'm so tired all the time. i have no time, i'm almost glad my Yoyo isn't around because then i would have no time for all my work!
loook at these incredible knitted finger puppets i found at last thursday:
also, i got this excellent piece of outsider art at the same last thursday for only $10:
i love you all so much and i'm coming home for thanksgiving... i'm not so sure if we will have time to chill - i'm sure we'll make time.

Holy Crap
yoyo is gone now, but it's okay because video chat is working pretty well and i love it.
school started and although i love each and everyone of my classes - it's so damn overwhelming i don't know if i can manage it all.
it seems to be working out though pretty nicely, it seems like that Stones song, "time is on my side" keeps playing in my head right when i turn all my projects in - it's actually quite soothing.
my schedule:
Mondays
8am-11am - Design Foundations with Prof. Bill Will (i know, right?)
1pm - 2.5pm - Origins of Modernism with Prof. Phil Harris (AMAZING AMAZING)
Tuesdays
8am-11am - Drawing Foundations with Prof. Brian Shannon
11.5am-3pm - Intro to Fibers with Jiseon Lee (seriously hard)
4.5pm-6pm - Survey of Western Art
Wednesdays (Date/Makeup Work Day!)
8am-11am - Design Foundations
Thursdays
8am-11am - Drawing Foundations with Prof. Brian Shannon
11.5am-3pm - Intro to Fibers with Jiseon Lee
4.5pm-6pm - Survey of Western Art with Prof. Abby McGhee(snooze fest)
Fridays
1pm-2.5pm - Origins of Modernism with Prof. Phil Harris
My modernism teacher and my western art teacher both teach in the same class. That is to say, they share the same boring portable classroom. Now, while they both teach in the classroom - they have completely different strategies of going abouts saturating our already sopping wet little minds with information. Abby puts me to sleep everytime she has a class, EVEN THOUGH her subjects are totally interesting and actually super cool. While Phil's topics are many times absolutely dull and boring and he keeps me riveted. Both lecture with barely any participation or movement in the classroom, and both classes are in the perfect slots where i am completely exhausted by the time i get there. I think it has something to do with the lights going on and off in Abby's classroom.
Anyway, my life is pretty rough and tumble - but i'm getting through just fine. My apartment is disgusting and my laundry just keeps piling up onto itself.
i miss my dad already.
i miss you guys more than anything!

berry pickin', bizarre cats, and bags of douche
http://www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com/
enjoy!
also, i just watched a great movie: L'Auberge Espagnole
with the so so so sexy Romain Duris. Unfortunately though, he's not so sexy in this movie... in fact, he's kind of a douche... AND he's surrounded by beautiful women the whole time! He's one for the website (see above)!
This is him in "de Battre mon Coeur" (to beat my heart) also a good movie.
This is the trailer for a movie I'm just dying to see with him in it again.
SOOOO good!
Right now my obsession with french films is induced by my obsession with french men. Short little cute boys with silly accents, c'est magnifique!
Actually, Yoye says my french is getting much better now that I've been watching these movies - it's still so embarrassing.
He's out to visit here in portland for the week before we both go back home. Me for 11 days, him for god knows how long.
Here, I took this picture of him while he was sleeping. It's the best shot I could get without him waking up to me trying to angle my laptop just right in front of his face. That would have been super awkward, not to mention super creepy.
ce qui un joli garçon!!
Here is my sweater that I am working on for my dad. I've finished the back and now the front is well on it's way. It's actually working up faster than I had initially expected.
This is my favorite part of my apartment, this little corner table i found at a consignment shop with my eiffel tower lamp. unfortunately, yoye hates this lamp so much... which i find endearing, just like his hate for that rat bastard Nicolas Sarkozy.
This cat came in and randomly started meowing at me, see? Check him out! He's HUGE!!! That's my oven, can you believe it?
and this is me berry picking!

slower and slower
slowly and more slowly i'm getting used to Mr. Christian Bale. After American Psycho I thought I would never be able to get over how much i LOATHE him, but I now love him. The Machinist and Little Women I became convinced that he is just, in fact, an actor.
Speaking of actors, I dreamed again. That's right, another fucking bizarre weird dream.... about.... Hulk Hogan. I had a dream about Hulk "The Hulkster" Hogan. He was my date at this office party and it was a huge warehouse full of office watercooler people who were celebrating the record store office party. He and I were trying to find a way out of there and he was my super nice boyfriend. He kept picking me up and telling me how pretty I was. I asked him to rip his shirt in half, and he obliged. It was a great dream, to be honest.
mon dieu! i've been knitting like crazy! i've been working on this sweater for the past couple of days and it's knitting up so quickly. I finally spent the money on some addi turbos and they truly are incredible. I didn't think it was a big deal until now! I mean, I always figured them overrated but they are truly something to be screamed from the rooftops.
I love you and miss you.
update: the sweater is for my daddy for christmas. the plan is to knit sweaters/shirts for my whole family this year.

I should be so lucky!
This morning I woke up in a sweat and ran to the bathroom. of course, the heat and my wanting to pee incredibly bad had made for a wonderful nightmare. sooo... here it is:
Alright, so I don't remember much of what happened before I had actually looked in the mirror... but this dream is a second parter. That's right... it's the chilling sequel to a dream I had earlier this month and thought nothing of.
In the first dream I went to my buddy Neal to get more tattoos and so I tell him to do what he thinks is best, but I definitely want a bottle of Tabasco hot sauce in there - WHAT THE FUCK? So he goes to town on my back I'm enduring through all this pain and right when he says, "alright, go ahead and take a look!" I WAKE UP.
okay, so fast forward a couple of weeks to last night and I'm dreaming. This time all I can remember is me looking in the mirror and seeing the fucking worst thing I could have possibly imagined. Actually, I have no idea - really - where this came from. Not only that, but I have no idea how I could have even... like IMAGINED this at all. But I look at my back in the mirror and, no joke, he has covered it in the most outrageous collection of disney themed shitty tattoos. He had tattooed JESUS CHRIST giving the buddy christ thumbs up, a Daffy Duck themed water fountain complete with glitter and sea shells/starfish, and even more Rose Parade Float-worthy concepts.
So, in my sleep I start to PANIC horrendously. I start taking in huge breaths and hyperventilating. I finally wake up and I actually say, "oh dear god... it was all just a dream... a terrible, terrible dream". I even went to pee and looked at my back in the mirror just to make super duper double sure.
Becky, please tell me what this all means!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I've been bookbinding. Yes, that's right, I've been giving other programs on campus shots. Although I love to bind books, I haven't fallen completely IN LOVE with it. But, I could definitely see how someone can devote a four year BFA with a concentration to it. So far I'm digging on fibers all around and I'm pretty stuck on it. However, ceramics is becoming more and more fun. Next couple weeks should be incredibly relaxing seeing as to how I only have a few classes.
Here are some really fun pictures of some of my life and goings on:
Okay, so this is Becca (my sister) lounging about when I went home for the quick Independence day holiday.
Arson, Becky, & Terry all chillin and laughin it up at Palermo's.
My dogs... this was actually before their apparent marital problems. They don't sleep close to each other anymore. Cud-Cud likes to sleep in the bathroom on top of all my dirty clothes when I'm home - SPECIFICALLY. Sasha sometimes does the same thing. (Sasha=Grey, Cud-Cud=Tan)
One of the many incredible pictures of my sister.
My friends Kela and Paul. Kela is an amazingly spiritual being. She is incredibly evocative and smart. Paul is the same but specifically a great lamp artist, he is also a great t-shirt collector.
This is the lamp that Paul custom made for me. He buys hand made paper and it takes him about two weeks to form it over these black dowels that are painted black and puts the light cord in it. He leaves the top open to keep it from overheating and so you can shove a hand down there to change the bulb. This picture doesn't do it justice though. It truly makes my room look like this very inviting burlesque room. It gives it that last bit of pure eroticism that I so sorely need in my life... even if it is through parent friendly inanimate objects.
Here is some detail on the texture of the lamp's paper shade. As a textural person, I can tell you - this, in itself, is breathtaking.
I'm sorry it takes so long for me to post, but to be honest - everytime I post they're pretty long. So we can basically apply the idea that, sure they're few and far between, but that's what makes you desire them even more. Love you girls.

You can't triple stamp on a double stamp.
Yes, I know. I'm sorry, so so so sorry. I can't believe all the shit I've been doing and the amount of time that has passed since I left.
My sister left already and now there's an empty space on the left side of the bed. Here we are on alder and 4th:
Even though I really do miss you guys so much, I've never had the experience of not wanting to go home before. It's completely surreal and bizarre. I feel completely at home here in my little apartment in my little city that's not so little. Portland is so awesome. Everyone is just always psyched on being here. The strangest thing is no one is actually FROM here. It's completely wild. Everyone I met knows exactly where I'm from because they lived, "two towns over". It's always "two towns over".
As far as knitting is concerned, I've been doing some fun ass things.
1. Awesome AWESOME awesome green mittens that are made out of yarn that I spun on one of those top whorl spindles.
2. Shibui Transitions Fingerless gloves I'm knitting in 2 different yarns I dyed myself (one is deep deep maroon red and the other is deep variegated indigo blue) for biking.
3. Simple socks made from Opal self patterning sock yarn in yellow.
I also bought some awesome yarn that's 50% wool & 50% llama by Cascade called Pastaza. It's the perfect weight and color, I'm going to knit up a nice long beanie.
I know I know, I should have some pictures - well my mom is mailing me her camera soon, so I should have some excellent pictures of EVERYTHING!
The super duper hard ceramics class that I am taking is really putting so much pressure on me. I mean, I enjoy it - but I'm letting it take over my life. My instructor is this awesome lesbian that is super duper adorable. She's so nice and calm and patient, but totally down to earth and realistic. There's this old bitch in the class that's just... well a bitch! and the teacher doesn't even bother with her. I mean, there's just NO WAY this old bitch will EVER get it. Coincidentally, the old bitch lives underneath my apartment... WHAT ARE THE ODDS!? Anyway, she always asks me about the girl that lives next door to me because I guess the girl next door is, "coming in and out of the house at 3 in the morning!". But, I just ignore her and smile and nod at everything she says so she calls me "doll". I call her "old bitch,"
just not to her face.
We laugh and smile, and she has no idea how much I actually am annoyed by her bullshit.
I love you all so much.

Portland, the poor man's San Fransisco.
With the ratio of toothless slack-jawed yokels to uppity snobbish artsy wine-o assholes dangerously in sync with the northern bay of California (the yokels slowly surpassing their counters by a mere 1.3 to 1), i have decided to dub Portland the cleaner hickish San Fransisco. And, yes, I am fully aware that there may be the raised eyebrow or two to my "quick to the draw" label - but there are just way too many opinions flying abouts all over the place. I mean, sure! Portland is WAY fucking cool... but there are so many people trying desperately to keep up with it's coolness, they end up failing miserably. my opinion will more than likely change in the coming days, several times without a doubt.
But seriously, I haven't REALLY been downtown since I got here. I've honestly had NO time. Let me go ahead and run through the "so far":
1. Thursday:
Drove straight from 8:30am to 12:30am and arrive in Eugene, OR - or as I like to call it, "why the fuck would you ever go to school here?-town" (aka Eugene Bible College and other such related classics). The entire TREK was a nightmare of cheap cheeseburgers, stops for gas & assorted gum, and the death choke hold of window lock with a busted ass. Stayed at a hotel, "something Marriot" - it was alright, the beds were shit. I woke up with the worst pain in my back since ever.
2. Friday:
Woke up at 10am and missed out on free continental breakfast but my moms decided on buying us the biggest fattest breakfast at ihop EVER, fucking genius! I had corn cake pancakes, yes. my best friend zoe got a fat spinach and mushroom omelette. the day had started out almost too well, and ended on a high note. We slept at the Red Lion Inn after dropping all our shit off at the new apartment. Did I mention we had shoved all of my shit into my little Lexus? Well, we did -- best decision ever, psyche! it kinda sucked. Did some light shopping at the mall to find me clothes, bought the coolest old school Michael Jackson elephant bells that make me look incredibly large.
3. Saturday:
The day of dawning death. This was BY FAR the worst and BEST Saturday ever. We went HERE which is the worst place to go if you need sleep or anything to do with it. I swear to god, the sleaziest grossest guy you could ever imagine. He was like a car salesman with greasy ass hair and nasty mossy brown crooked teeth and a sinus problem, only he was peddling mattresses? what the fuck man? We ended up going HERE, which was amazing. We got a queen beautyrest, a full ass futon, a beautiful futon mattress, a gorgeous suede cover, 2 big ass long body pillows, a hollywood frame, and peace of mind for only $1389. That's right, in Oregon -- YOU DON'T PAY SALES TAX!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention the sales guy was super nice and very handsome without being too pushy. THEN! While talking about how awesome our purchases were at the mattress place, I said, "oh let me move this seatbelt behind me because it hurts my tits". So no joke, a cop pulls us over about a minute after I had done that and gave me the lecture on seatbelts... it went a little something like this:
ugly neon green cop on a motorcycle: "You know, here in OREGON the law says you have to wear it across your chest and buckled across your lap at all times - and your registration tags are expired."
me: "oh, well I was grabbing something in my bag down here between my legs - my tits got in the way"
-- that's right, i TOTALLY squished my boobs together in an alarmingly informative, yet vulgar, manner.
cop: "here's a fix it ticket - i wont ticket you for the registration, you don't have to pay the fine if you go to this 2 hour class."
me: "thanks." BIG FAT SMILE!
the cops here are gross and ugly, the cops back home at least have that hot mystery color navy blue? black? uniform with the big gold badge that says, "yeah... i can kick your fucking ass, man."
Then spent about 1,000 bucks HERE and put it all away and called it quits for the day. Then I set up my cable wireless and it is freakin amazing.... it's so damn fast!!!!! I'm really loving it.
4. Sunday:
The PLANS for sunday are basically to have a good time and buy THIS and pretty much browse whatever else i need in their CUTE FUCKING STORE.
